Past. Present. Future.

David G. Maki II was born and raised in Pinckney Michigan. He attended Eastern Michigan University where he achieved a bachelor’s in musical performance. After college he spent three years working for Carnival Cruise Lines as a saxophone player where he continued to hone his skills on Baritone, Tenor, and Soprano Saxophone. He joined Lady Sunshine and the X Band in 2002 and in 2005 they won the Detroit Blue Competition. They traveled to Memphis Tennessee where they placed second in the International Blue Competition.  He has spent many years working with local Big Bands as well as several community theater productions. Throughout the years David has performed all genres of music including Blues, Soul, Jazz, Funk, and Rock. He has shared the stage with Peggy Marsh, Liquid Soul, J Siegal and the Tokens, and Sir Mack Rice. In his 35 years of performing, he has had the privilege of filing in for fellow musicians and is frequently asked to perform as a solo act in various venues.
